Star is my first horse, and she has been the best first horse a young girl new to riding could have had. I got her when I was 13 years old, and we have a bond that is unbreakable. During the summer of 2000, Star and I were riding down the dirt road that the farm she was boarded at was located on. We were not far from the farm’s driveway when I heard what sounded like a twig snapping. Star spun around and bolted back towards the farm. When I got her stopped before we hit the farm’s asphalt driveway, and got myself situation on the saddle again, I turned and looked back down to the spot where she bolted from and realized that the entire top of a tree along the roadside had fallen. I didn’t know what was happening, but somehow she did ad she saved our lives. The tree fell across the road with only a few feet to spare on the opposite side of the road we were on. We would have been directly underneath the tree had she not bolted. Star is an incredible mare that I wouldn’t trade anything for, and she literally saved my life that day.
