"You're NOT getting that THING," my husband cried out when he first saw the bony, shaggy, black and white animal, "THAT doesn't even LOOK like a PONY!"
Buster, the large Pinto Pony, grew up on a rent-string at the local stables, bucking off any kid he could. He was hard to catch too! Records at the facility show the 12+ hand pony, was 31 or 32 years old in 1991 when he was purchased and with residents testimonials this makes Buster 49 years old now. Our neighbor, Joe, who is in his twenties, has pictures of him riding Buster at his 5 year-old Birthday Party, and he was, "REALLY OLD THEN."
Fast forward four years later, by eating exclusively Purina Equine Senior, having excellent vet care and his "tooth" floated each year combined with lots of love, Buster looks like a totally different pony! He's actually getting younger! We think he is going blind until the Vet comes and we know he can see because he "takes off" in a trot!
When Buster is not at the Live Nativity Scene each Christmas at the neighbor's pasture as the "donkey", his companions are feral peacocks, two goats, 31 chickens and a Haflinger named, "Beau."
Buster is completely retired. Our children, Luke 7 and Nicole 5, don't ride him because we feel he has carried enough children on his back and it is time for kisses, hugs and tummy rubs instead for the remainder of his days.
Many people ask why we would take an old "cast off" pony when his "good years are over." He wasn't supposed to live longer than a year when we adopted him. My family and I credit, Purina Equine Senior for his good health, longevity and lots of love.
