A series of unfortunate events, I got Strutt as a green broke 6 year old in 1996. We did it all; western pleasure, trail, horsemanship, showmanship, games, eventing, dressage, hunters, jumpers - we even tried our hand at reined cow horse and pleasure driving. He was and is truly an all around horse. He continued to be my superman for years to come until he ran into his series of unfortunate events. In 2006, he was on a 10% pelleted feed and was partially retired with only beginner lessons as his work. He was on pasture the rest of the time. Sadly, over the course of two years, he became laminitic, developed bowed tendons, began to accumulate sores, his feet fell apart and just had poor thrift in general. I was distraught and had given up hope. I was ready to turn him out for good. Before I did, I decided to take the plunge and put him on Purina Equine Senior feed. He was only 17, and I didn’t want to label him as old. Well, call him what you want, it was the best decision I ever made. Within two weeks his coat started coming back, his sores went away, his tendons healed and his feet began to look great. Thanks to Purina’s Equine Senior, Strutt is no longer an “old man” but a “seasoned pro.” He won the Marshall Sterling Level 2 Jumper Classic at 18 years of age and is now successfully competing in the hunter divisions with his favorite student who tells me every day how honored she is to be able to ride such an amazing horse. Thank you Purina for helping me brighten the lives of so many little girls by providing the right nutrition to make this senior horse a seasoned professional instead of an old man!
