I am out of breath and I can't stop laughing. He is still a character, possibly even more so after all these years. I just spent an hour chasing him around our country neighborhood. He lets me get just close enough, squeals, bucks and off he goes. Of course, if I turn my back to him and walk away, he will follow. It's a wonderful game he never tires of. Ok, I admit it, I let him "escape" this morning. He loves it so! Born March 8, 1975, with a 100% "it's all about me" attitude, meet Peppy Joe. Yes, this is the 34 year old I have been chasing about, and yes, he still outruns me effortlessly. He still kicks up his heels and runs. His coat is shiny and eyes are bright. A bit sway-back and a little gray, but he is healthy and happy and that is enough. My mom sold her beloved horse "Red" to buy Peppy for me when I was 12. She's amazing! I lost count of the times Peppy saved my life: lost in the mountains, deserts, and woods; through quicksand, barbed wire, rivers, bears, and his list of steadfast courageousness continue. He's virtually bombproof, as long as there are no ostriches about. Ha! Leave the back door open? He'll come in. Want to tan in the yard? He will lie beside you. He has done it all. He is the love of my life & forever my best friend. To what do I contribute his longevity? Two things: The first is love. He has always known unconditional love from this family. The second is Purina Equine Senior. There is no doubt in my mind that he would not be here today without this perfect senior food. Thank you, Purina, for caring for the most magnificent elderly among us.
